Beth Canning is supplier diversity manager in Corporate Purchasing at Prudential Financial Inc. She is the primary interface between Prudential and the diverse supplier communities, responsible for managing the supplier diversity initiative to ensure that veteran, service-disabled veteran and certified minority and woman-owned businesses are included in opportunities to participate in Prudential’s procurement process
Canning joined Prudential in 1987 as an assistant buyer in the Purchasing Department. She served a variety of positions in Corporate Purchasing and assumed fulltime management of supplier diversity in 2000.
Under her leadership, Prudential's supplier diversity efforts received the 2008 Women Presidents' Educational Organization Corporate Leadership Award- Done Deals Challenge; The 2008 Women Presidents' Educational Organization Corporation of the Year - NY Region award; and the 2003 NY & NJ Minority Supplier Development Council's National Corporation of the Year award.
Canning has an undergraduate degree from Drew University and an MBA degree from Montclair State. She also has earned lifetime status of Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).
Canning is a member of the board of the Women Presidents’ Educational Organization (WPEO), an affiliate of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, and chair of its New Jersey certification committee.
She also is former chair of the Financial Services Roundtable for Supplier Diversity (FSRSD), a peer group of National Minority Supplier Development Council members dedicated to enhancing supplier diversity within the financial services industry, and currently serves as co-chair of its Outreach Committee and a member of the FSRSD Executive Committee.
Canning was listed among the Women's Enterprise USA First Ladies of Supplier Diversity in 2008; the Minority Business News USA First Ladies of Supplier Diversity in 2007; the Women's Enterprise USA Best of the Decade (Director/Manager) in 2007; and Women’s Enterprise USA 100 Women Impacting Supplier Diversity in 2006; and won the 2006 President’s Award from the WPEO NY Region.
Canning volunteers for the animal rescue group Almost Home Dog Rescue of New Jersey and is active in her church.
